{{Version|1.0}} If you want to be a gang that anyone respects, you’re gonna need a good crew. In Empire of Sin, there are up to sixty gangsters available to hire with their own personalities, backstories, and relationships. A list of available gangsters is available on the Black Book screen. Each gangster fulfils one of five Professions: Enforcer, Hired Gun, Demolitionist, Doctor, and Con Artist. Each role has its own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. They can heal during combat, and if someone does get sent off to the hospital, they'll make sure they don't have to spend too long there. Handles a gun like they were born with it. What they lack in brawn, they more than make up for in accuracy and critical hits. ** Hired Guns can use Handguns, Melee Weapons, Rifles, Shotguns, and Submachine guns * [[File: Profession Demolitionist.png|24px]] '''Demolitionist''': Demolitionists know their dynamite more than their right hand. They're less liable to lose any fingers, too. Call on them to raze buildings down, or chuck some grenades in the heat of combat. They're not too shabby with a gun, either. ** Demolitionists can use Handguns, Melee Weapons, Submachine guns, and Machine guns == Promotion == Every boss needs the right people at their right hand, and gangsters can be promoted up through the ranks of your crew. A gangster can be made your Advisor or an Underboss. A gangster can be promoted to Advisor once you have 100 Notoriety - having an Advisor will provide a loyalty bonus to your other gangsters. [[File: Manual Gangsters promotion.png|center|500px]] You need a notoriety level of 500 to assign an Underboss, but once you do, they can be sent to manage business in your primary safehouse. Underbosses will reduce the wages paid to gang members based on their leadership. Below that, loyal soldiers can become Lieutenants, which can be assigned to other safehouses in different neighborhoods. To be promoted, a gangster has to be Made - this will happen automatically when they kill someone while under your command. You can keep track of your gang’s hierarchy on the tab next to the hiring screen in the Black Book, as seen above. When you’ve got the notoriety requirement, you can assign your gangster to Advisor or Underboss in the Gangster sheet. Select “Change Role” at the bottom of the screen, and choose from the roles available. You can only have one Advisor and one Underboss, so choose them carefully. Lieutenants can be assigned by interacting with the desk in another neighborhood’s safehouse, or simply by purchasing a safehouse in another neighborhood. [[File: Manual Gangsters promotion 2.png|center|500px]] == Relationships == Your crew aren’t just meat-sacks awaiting your every command - they’re people with their own likes and dislikes, and relationships to one another. On the Black Book screen you can see the relationships between various gangsters - some gangsters like one another, and will work well together. Some gangsters despise one another, and will refuse to work with one another on principle. Relationships can also develop over time. Gangsters that spend a lot of time with one another can develop feelings for one another, and those feelings may eventually become romantic. When gangsters are in love with one another, they protect each other in combat. A gangster whose lover is shot in combat may get a bonus shot in at their lover’s attacker. Ain’t that sweet? But it ain’t all sunshine and roses. Some lovers can develop jealous tendencies, and if they find out that another gangster is in love with their object of affection, they might turn violent. Keep a close eye on your crew to prevent any unnecessary bloodshed. Remember that you can always implore crew members to pursue other romantic interests. They might pout for a while, but it’s better than winding up with a dead gangster on your hands. You can also talk to them if you select a character and then Right-Click on them. [[File: Manual Gangsters hire.png|center|500px]] == Sal’s Tips == You can’t make people like each other, and that’s okay. What you can do is capitalize on gangsters who’ve already got relationships brewing. Here’s a few tips to make the most of your criminal connections: * ''Hire Low, Aim High'' - For starters, hire low tier gangsters with big time connections. Then, you’ll want to work closely with that gangster, get their loyalty and morale nice and high. That way, you won’t have to wait until you’ve got the notoriety to hire their high class gangster friend or lover - you can rely on the old fashioned power of friendship. * ''Start Your Talents Early'' - When you hire any gangster, make sure you get that first talent cooking right off the bat. The sooner you get your talents going, the sooner you’ll be able to get to those meaty talents further down the tree. That goes for the boss, too. The boss has talents of their own, and you’ll want to make the most of those early in the game so that you can get the payoff later on. * ''Birds of a Feather'' - You’ll notice as your peruse through backgrounds and descriptions of characters that some of these gangsters have shared pasts. Examples are gangsters that spent time in the Monks’ Family Circus, or in The Lodge. Hiring multiple gangsters that share history can unlock special events that only trigger when those gangsters are working the same crew.
